Time to workout with a sketch!

Things have been crazy in the Marshall house as of late. With a month left until our move across country,my personal health investigation, lots of photoshoots scheduled, and the end of Alexia's first year in school, its no wonder why this blog has been sadly neglected. But I had to share this weeks ScrapFit challenge with you.We had a great sketch to work with this week, and those that know me,know that I love to work with a great sketch. The girls had such great interpretations of this sketch,I cannot believe how much greatness came from one single sketch! We would love for y'all to play along at a chance to win the prize from this weeks sponsor:Holly Craft Originals
Now show us your take.Link your layout to the ScrapFit site by June 30th for a chance to win the Gift Certificate from Holly Craft Originals! As for myself,i will be back in a few days to share another great sketch based layout!

Mist Mania

Good Afternoon everyone!I am sharing a new layout for todays ScrapFit challenge. It's all about misting! You know how much you love misting. The girls and I came up with some great new ways to play with this technique.I knew right away what i wanted to do for this weeks prompt.I took the time to pick out some old letter and border stickers to use as a mask on my greatest love;Kraft paper.
Let me share that I am so proud of my big girl! She is in Kindergarten this year, and already reading at almost a second grade level. She also loves to use this knowledge to read to her little sisters. How cute is a moment like this!I just had to capture it for a layout. My favorite detail about this layout is the difficult to see use of the hambley transparancy.Yall know i LOVE Hambly! So onto the challenge. If you are regular at ScrapFIT you must have noticed our wonderful Weekend Warm Up Coach, Missy's love of MISTING! Missy does amazing things with mist including making it herself! So this Workout is a tribute to Missy! We want to see a layout or project with a good amount of misting! Be creative, make your own misting mask, mix your mist colors - think outside the box!We would love to see you play along for a chance to win some great goodies by this weeks sponser Vicky Alberto for Dusty Attic ChipboardWe would love to see you play along. You have until May 31st for a chance to win.And do not forget to take a peek at the other ladies layouts!soo much fun and inspiration!

chevron arrow fun(photo heavy post!)

Good morning!I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!Mine was quite low key, including a sweet plant in a paper cup that Alexia grew at school.Poor, sweet child, didn't want me to see my gift until Sunday, and also did not inform her daddy of its need for sun and water,so there it sat in the paper bag since Friday. It is a bit sad and now needs quick re potting, here is hoping I gained a green thumb this year, since I have never been close to having one before..I mean I killed a cactus in High school, its really that bad!haha.I wanted to share another layout using this months Dixie Pieces kit!
Don't you just love how versatile this kit can be.Just adding a mist in the background with color, brought a whole new element to this kit!I also took the time to make up a fun tutorial on the fun chevron arrows(you can click on photos to see better details!)We all know how trendy chevrons are right now,so i was playing around with the striped paper from the kit,and thought that by angling it properly and lining it up,it could make a great chevron!!I put together steps to share!i hope you enjoy it!
Step 1:using your trimmer, cut a large triangle from your patterned paper leaving a horizontal look as so.
Step two:align your paper up on your trimmer as shown,at your size of choice(i chose for this to cut at 1/2 inch for each side)
Step three:rotating your paper to the right once,do the same as step two, creating the other side of your arrow.
step four:this leaves you with two strips of paper to work with.
step five:gathering your two strips of paper, strips on the outside, cut the end in the same direction as such.
step six:place the two strips of cut paper, stripe side up together ,showing you the finished arrow as such for your paper projects.
Remember that even though this was shown using this months kit, this technique can be used with any striped paper of choice.Another note to remember, the wider the strips you cut,the wider the arrows will be.I am off to edit some photos from a mini shoot this weekend!I hope everyone has a beautiful day!

Brighter than the sun

Oh where has the week gone?Ive been busy with a photoshoot and preparring for a fun minishoot tomorrow for Mother's Day.I took the time to get this fun layout done.Simple Scrappers is doing a great article on layouts featuring music songs, and I knew right away what I wanted to do!I fell in love with this song the moment I heard it.Colbie Caillet has a way of making me happy with every song she releases, and her new song "brighter than the sun" is no exception.I used it to showcase an older photo of the hubby and I..I lovd how it turned out, using my trusty Hambly print paper and Ormolu tags.
. You can view the article here. Also,as promised,I wanted to share my new Scrappy desk, before and afters.I snagged it off of an online sale sight, and loved the fun "bones" instantly.I cannot lie,i brought it home and my husbands results was as follows, and I quote "a turd desk",but I had a vision! So glad I listened to my heart,It is great, and i goot some fun paper liner also!
well I am off to sleep,my favorite place in the world,I hope I can squeeze in another share tomorrow :)

A perfect day

I finally got my new desk done !yay!i will be sure to get pics up to share tomorrow! Before I can break it in,i needed to give my trusty old folded table one more go,by playing along with Elles studio Sketch this week, which you can view HERE.I always love thir sketch's.They always seem to be the best mix of simple but open for detailed intrpretation.I also snuck in a challenge from My scrapbook nook for their pre-crop this week in preperation for National Scrapbooking Day!!The challenge was about creating a layout based on a movie genre,I chose a love story, but rather than Hubby and I,i wanted to document the love of my girls for each other.I snapped these pics, playing around indoors for the first time last year.I love how sweet they look all intertwined.
Well thanks for peeking, and I will be back tomorrow to share my new desk!

Man,was there ever a storm here lastnight! It started picking up just before bed,but around 4 am is when it really got bad.We were all woken up to thunder so loud,it had to be right over our heads.Once it was soo strong it litterally shook the walls and window panes of our brick home.Today, the ground is drenched, but the sun is slowly making its beautiful appearance.Until it is nice enough to give me motivation to clean,i plan to remain on the computer, encouraging my laziness creativity. I am excited and sad all in one to share this layout today.7 months ago,I was blessed to be asked to join my first kit club as a designer, and I couldn't have been more humbled and happy by this term for Dixie Pieces.I learned so much and got to work with some super sweet ladies. This kit marks my last Dixie Pieces kit as a designer, and it couldnt have been a more perfect "last" kit.
Mays kit,Music Box,is full of amazingness from Prima, websters, and bazzil basics.I must admit, this is not my normal style of products, but it was so fun to play with it for all of those reasons.I created this layout to showcase the AMAZINGLY gorgeous American Craft glitter paper.I cannot do it justice,as it is a million times more gorgeous in person.Don't hesitate to grab yours before they're gone! Thanks for peeking at my layout today!

Happy Tuesday! It has been a VERY warm day today, and I have been outside working on repainting an old desk I found for my scrappy space.I currently use an OLD kitchen table that my mom had before i remember,so I am excited to have something that screams me!I wish time could speed the process, but I should be done in just a few days and cannot wait to share before and after pics!I wanted to share a layout today showcasing one of my favorite trends..the doliy.I love my maya road doiles;the bare kraft look has a special place in my scrappy heart.I created this layout for The new challenge over at Scrapfit today!
All the girls on the team had such fun ideas on what to do with your doilies,I chose to place mine behind my title. We would love to have you play along for this weeks sponser prize by http://www.etsy.com/shop/vickyalberto.
Show us what you can do with a doily and link up your layout or paper craft project to the Mr Linky on the ScrapFIT blog by May 31st for a chance to win the Dusty Attic prize pack!I am off to tuck some sweet girls in for the night, and will be back in the morning to share some fun from my May Dixie Pieces Kit!

everyday rainbow!

I have been having alot of fun playing along with the girls over at My Scrapbook Nook, they are some of the sweetest girls on the forum!so happy to be a part of it!And there is soo much inspiration there,it is CRAZY!On another note,Baby Kenzie is on the crawl everywhere, the only downside is that she is great at pulling up on every bit of furniture, but not so great at getting back down, causing alot of frustrated cry outs for Mom,but what are the joys of a baby without the occassional blips!I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

out with the old and in with the new

It's out with the old and in with the new over at Dixie Pieces this month. All of the team members took the time to interpret this in our own way,and right away I knew what I wanted to do.I had a stash of some "old" pebbles scrapbook paints.Do you remember when they were all the rage?I just HAD to get one in every color.Fast forward quite a few years, and the new rage adorns most scrappers tables...I am speaking of Mister Hueys,or your mist of choice,of course!I wanted to use both trends, old and new on a unified layout.I am not one for a huge artsy feel on my pages,so i chose to lightly mist some doilies and paint some circles as embellishments.I am happy with the fun look it added to this fun layout!I love the subject of this layout by the way.My girls have a thing about lining their toys up on the window, leaving them for me to find later. It is such a cute thing of their childhood. While today it may make for clutter,i know it will be these little things I will miss the most once they are grown.

We would love to see your take on this, and the other team members challenges.Share for your chance at this months member prize.By the way, have you seen,Dixie Pieces has now gone from forum to Facebook,so take the time to "like" us and join the fun!
Also, don't forget to check out the awesome new Step Class over at ScrapFit,Sheila shows us some awesome Quilling!

I loved the pop of red,so i used that same idea for my layout!I am happy with it!We would love for yall to come play along, for a chance at the prize by My Divine Inspiration!Peek on over and see what the rest of the team did,and we hope you play along!

we say cheese...

For Cheese that is,Mac and Cheese in fact!It is the number one request for lunch in this house. My girls would eat it all the time if they had their way.Of course they love to help also.I have been trying hard to capture the little memories on photo to scrap(I had until recently been one to stick to scrapping the "pretty pictures",you know what I mean). The girls have soo much fun helping me cook any chance they can.The proud looks on their faces are always worth investing the patience in little tasks like this!I created this layout with another one of the awesome sketch's from Simple Scrapper(available through the premium membership)

I saw this today on pinterest, people are calling it PI day,for the date being the begining of pi(pi = 3.14159265),thats my random fact of the day!
I am inlove with the new papers from the Dear Lizzy line.It pulls so many of my favorite things together in one line, photography, vintage photo feel, cozy colors. It screams spring day and makes me want to run barefoot in a field with balloons!I found this fun sketch over at Artful Delight this week, and knew i had to jump into the challenge using the papers from this months Scrapbook Circle Kit( i cannot tell you enough how happy I am to get these kits each month).

Thanks for peeking, and ill be back tomorrow with the mid month Scrap Fit Challenge!!
